USFWS Proposes Endangered Species Protection for Monarchs
USFWS is seeking public input on a proposal to list the species as threatened with species-specific protections and flexibilities to encourage conservation under section 4(d) of the Endangered Species Act (ESA). Public comments will be accepted on the proposal until March 12, 2025. More info at USFWS and Xerces.
Oregon Receives Monarch Butterfly Conservation Funding
Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden announced Nov. 26, 2024 the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF)’s Monarch Butterfly and Pollinators Conservation Fund (Pollinator Fund) is providing $758,810 for two projects that will increase and improve western monarch butterfly and pollinator habitats in Oregon.
